Is it really as boring as it seems?
I want to know that I would have the option to party every single night, even if I don't end up doing so...
I'm looking forward to the best years of my life, I'm not lookin to get bored

Look somewhere else

Perhaps you should send your post to the person paying the 55k per year to attend? Because if i was the one paying for your education and saw that post, you’d find yourself at the local community college working PT to pay your OWN WAY…

If you’re looking to party every night, I’d suggest a state school like University of Delaware or Maryland.

qdogpa - you are so right! My parents would tell me to go to CC if I thought that way. I busted my butt for 3 years to get the chance at a school like Villanova, I am sure a lot of other kids did too!

I’ve heard two nicknames. Villa-no fun and Villa-so fun. Goes to show that you can really make whatever you want out of your experience.

TIP: Chill with the Penn students

hahaha okayyyy crmichi

I didn’t mean to be offensive haha. Actually, my parents have a different perspective and are actually concerned that Villanova may not have the most ideal social environment. That’s not to say that someone like myself who asks such a question hasn’t worked as hard as the next kid…
Crmichi - Thanks for the advice, I’ve applied to Penn already but I’m not expecting muchh

Also qdogpa, I would not make my parents pay the 55k per year even if they insisted. Granted, they probably would not coerce me, but CC and a pt job would not be things my mom or dad would even let me consider, though I’ve asked countless times before. (well for a job atleast)

^^^^

If they are not paying, are you hoping/assuming on a full ride? Loans? Grants? The likelyhood of full ride at "Nova is not good…Best of luck

Nasty- didn’t you just write on the UPenn board that you work for your mom as a sales rep, and that the two of you are starting a company. That sounds like a part time job. You said your academics are weak, do you feel 'Nova is a safety school for you?

Really? I left the area to go to school in New York a couple of years ago. But, in like 2008, it was probably the best drinking/drug school in the Philly metro area. Let me amend that: it was THE best in the area.

What’s going on?

tribegirl - no need to get hostile, but yes I did. It is actually FT, as other same level employees live off their earnings from the same work I do. And while I did say that my academics were weak for penn, and I said I wasn’t expecting anything, they are closer to villanova’s expectations. With other connections, I consider nova borderline target/safety. Obviously college admissions can be a crapshoot but perhaps you should recognize that a post on a thread does not provide the whole spectrum. your comments are extremely snarky even though I didn’t mean any harm.

And nope I’m probably not qualified for a full ride but paying the full 55k would be ridiculous, even I know that

hellojan - that’s like why I started this message, I’ve heard so many mixed reviews

nasty850:
Here is a link from '09 that discusses social and dorm life at Villanova.

@hopeful,
what do you mean to convey with that comment

Thanks Kelly47, that really helped give me an idea!!

social scene-ticket parties usually 5 or 6 per year, get a fake id-doesnt have to be really good, usually 30 dollars per ticket party, they are in philly. Frat parties for guys hard freshman year because you always need girls. No connections makes it tough. Most popular places-courts(apartment complex where frats throw down always), mansion(FIJI’s next year), frat houses. Pay 10 dollars for guys, plus the courts+mansion you need a cab its like 8 bucks total. Frats off campus, bars on main line, kind of hard to get into without really good fakes or unless you turn 21. You can rush a fraternity spring semesester of freshman year and fall semester of sophmore year.Enviorment- all types of people but the frats are really preppy, lots of kinds from long island and tons of kids from new jersey, and suburbs of philly. However their are groups for everyone.

I am a current Villanova student. Ok, corrections and additions to nsmukh’s statement: $20-25 - ticket party. Frats are definitely there if you want to be in them. The courts is honestly just a place to get wasted if that is your goal for w/e reason, not judging. Social scene between dorms is pretty good. Some parties on West Campus occasionally. Not as hard to get into frat parties if you are a guy, it really isn’t. Just go with some of your female friends and you will have no problem getting in, without paying. The ratio will vary anywhere between 1:1 - 1:4 depending on how strict they are on that particular night.
