Hi,

I'm an international student from Hong Kong considering to apply to University of Texas as a Business Major.

What I wanted to know is how the social scene is? What can you do? Is there any partying? If so, how much? Is it a diverse community?

Also how's the campus and academics like?

Thanks in advance!

Yes there is a social scene, a very active one I might add. You can do a great variety of things: ranging from going to parties to playing cricket at 3 am in front of the tower. There are a lot of parties. Yes, it’s a diverse community.

Campus is excellent

Academics are phenomenal

Parking is a nightmare

and the cafeteria has waffles shaped like the state of Texas.

There is definitely a diverse social scene with Greek life, spirit groups, etc. People are always up and out doing something, even playing games in front of the tower in the wee hours of the morning, as someone mentioned already. There are over 900 student organizations and most are very active and have weekly meetings, volunteer events, social events, and more. You’ll definitely be able to join some kind of group that interests you and meet lots of people.

If you’re the partying type, there’s always some kind of party going on during weekends in West Campus which is where most frats/sororities and off-campus student housing are. And if you’re not into partying, that’s fine too. You’ll only find a party if you go look for one.
