Social Scene at UTD?

I just visited UTD and loved the Campus. I live in Houston so I love Dallas, much prettier. I also grew up in Allen so it brings back good memories.

anyway, I have heard bad things about the social scene. Are the people there nice? Is it easy to find people to meet?

just if you could give your overall opinion on the student life at UTD that would be great.

Thanks!

dont pay attention to the old perceptions of social life at utd. utd’s social life has changed dramatically since started at utd 3 years ago. with the res hall and the new one opening next fall, its changing big time.

the campus events are getting more frequent and bigger than ever. here is a copy paste from the event page for springapalooza. (i dont know too many schools that offer hot air balloon rides)

thats what I thought also after touring the campus. The tour guide made it sound like the campus was changing dramatically, as could be seen with all the new construction. just wanted to hear it from a student who has recently experienced utd.

@bigreddawgie, the changes made to UTD sound truly impressive however I still have a concern. While I too enjoyed my visit, many people constantly tell me that if your not interested in computers/videogames; UTD isn’t the school for you. Is this true, or has a new diverse group of students begun enrolling at UTD?

im not interested in computers or videogames. most of my friends dont either. those that do, you prob wont see them around much because they are playing games.

While I know this may come across as a bit odd, could you brand your fellow students. What type of students would you say there are at UTD? Like, do preppy kids exist, are there an indie/hipsters? Also a question about classes, around how many people are in each of your classes?

“What type of students would you say there are at UTD?”

Look for a kid on a Segway, one or two unicyclists, people in costumes… soon you’ll be able to identify each person by the shirt they wear each day.

/don’t listen to me

you have a problem with the segway kid, wolf boy, and one of the two unicyclists who juggles batons? haha

Haha it just makes me laugh to see some of the people who walk around campus. First time I saw wolf boy… wow…

I’ve seen the unicyclists and segway dude but not the wolf guy. It’s funny because our campus has a lot of very buttoned-down, straight-laced type people…so when you see a random skinny guy on a segway…you can’t help but laugh. Went to graduation today and did not realize that the grass field next to the conference center is now a parking lot. Being in the School of Management really distorts your view of the campus…don’t notice half of what is going on daily.
