Social Scene if Not Going Greek?

I was admitted for fall 2013, and I'm not interested in the Greek System. So my question is how easy is it to make friends without going Greek, and what is the non-Greek social/party scene like? I'm also not heavily into collegiate sports (don't flame me), so I'm a little worried about making friends and having fun. I'm outgoing and love to socialize, just not into what I hear is the typical USC party scene.

Preeeeeeeetty easy. Tons of student orgs you can get involved with without going greek, and everyone likes to party so you don’t have to worry about not being able to party.

Not Greek here, making friends is easy. And should you ever decide you want to attend a party hosted by a frat, last I checked they let girls in regardless of whether they’re Greek or not.

It’s a different story for guys though, right?

I’m a current freshman here at USC, and I am not going to lie, USC is definitely very fratty, sometimes in a negative way. As a liberal, not-into-sports non-partying girl I sometimes get hate from sorority girls who look down on “GDIs,” but once you get over it isn’t so bad. I am currently involved with KXSC Radio as a DJ in training, and it’s a great place to get acquainted with people who share the same music interests and definitely not tainted with the “essence of the Row.” I’m also in WSA (women’s student association) where we organize feminist-themed events and frankly I feel like we share a closer bond of sisterhood that may or may not be genuine in the typical USC sorority- I met my next-year roomie there. Don’t get me wrong, there are nice Greek people out there, but the sour ones tend to ruin the whole bunch. As long as you commit to cool clubs where you can find friends, you are totally fine. It may be hard to find a “group” at first, but eventually everyone finds their niche.
