I'm a recently admited student to WashU and I will most likely be attending it. I know that WashU has amazing academics and is highly ranked in a bunch of its programs, but I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea as to what people's social lives are like there. I know that's kind of a superficial question, but I'd like to also have fun in college in addition to the learning and studying, and no one else has really asked this question yet.

I'd like to know to....

In my opinion, the social scene is a good mix of partying, hanging out, and participating in cultural events, etc. It's obviously not a party school, but the students definitely like to have fun, and there are always lots of parties to go to... in the dorms, at the frats, and off campus. The social scene definitely isn't all about parties though, there are a lot of activities on campus and in StL on the weekends. Lots of the students are more laid back and choose low-key activities... movies, games, etc. Actually most students do a little bit of both... plus studying :)

It's hard to sum up what the social life at washu (or any school) is like in a short reply... and I'm really bad at short replies anyway... so here's a link to a similar answer: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=128507
I think there are other older posts too, but this is the most recent.
I'd be glad to answer any other questions (I'm a recent alum, BME 04), if there's anything in particular you're curious about.
