My son is a high school senior and narrowing down his college choices. He is not a div 1 athlete or interested in Greek life. He does plan to participate in club sports & activities. Is the social scene for guys centered around Greek life & athletics and will he feel excluded at Lafayette if he is not involved in either? We appreciate any advice!! Thanks
My son is a sophomore at Laf and not a D1 athlete. Freshman are not able to pledge so it gives all of the kids a year to explore other social options before they make up their mind on Greek life. My son developed a great friend group within his dorm and joined the ultimate frisbee team (club) which is arguably more social than it is athletic, at least for the less serious participants. He did decide to join a fraternity but maintains his friendships outside of it and kids who decide to remain independent have plenty of social options.
