Hello all! I'm an OOS student from North Jersey who very well may end up at Pittsburgh due to a pretty good financial package, and I'm having a bit of trouble finding the answers to some of my concerns on prior threads. I am a pretty well rounded student (IMO), and though I get all my work done and know when it's time to buckle down, I ALSO like to party and have a good time. A lot of what I've read whenever someone asks if there is ever anything to do is go to museums for free, which is nice, but personally I'm not really a museum person. What is the majority of night life like at Pitt?

Also, I plan on studying undergrad Business, but the program is ranked fairly low in comparison to some of my other options. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge regarding the Business School? Employment following graduation, etc.?

Any response is appreciated, thank you in advance for your help!

Josh,
I'm pretty sure you can find pretty much any level of entertainment at Pitt. To be honest, I was worried it was going to be too much of a party school for me, but I'm hoping the Honors College is more low-key. It seems that for the most part parents/students posting on here are involved with UHC, and they offer a lot more of the cultural stuff, etc. But if you really like to party, check the Pitt 2011 Facebook group...believe me, there is plenty going on. Everyone on there seems to be ready to party like crazy.

Anyone that is at Pitt or went have any insight on whether there is a balance of kids who party and those who don't or not? It's been a concern for me, but like I said, I'm hoping I'll be alright if I do Honors housing.

Let me know what you think, I'd love to get some idea of what Pitt is really like.

There are partiers at Pitt, but they are just a vocal minority. There is so much to do at Pitt and in Pittsburgh that it is impossible one aspect of social life to dominate. Look up the thread titled "Things to do in Pittsburgh." You'll find a mix of all sorts of people at Pitt, all with varying interests.

As far as the business program, it is regarded as a top school. I don't know where it ranks on uS News or other rankings, but in the real world, a Pitt business degree is quite respectable.

There is plenty to do. There are museums, zoos, and classy places downtown (Heinz Hall is a personal favorite). If you want to party, there is no shortage of that anywhere in Oakland or the city. There are always cultural events, music stuff all over town. In short, you shouldn't get bored.

You will not find a wider variety of social options at any other school.
