I’ve explored some threads on this topic but they are a bit dated and I was wondering if anyone out there had updated information on the subject. My children and I all receive SS survivor benefits. (They are untaxed.) The benefits for my oldest, who is college bound in 2016, will end in June when she both turns 18 and graduates. My son will continue to receive them for about 3 1/2 more years; mine will end when he turns 16 (about 1 year and a half from now). It seems pretty well settled that they need not be reported on the FAFSA but I remain a bit confused as to the CSS Profile. An insight would be greatly appreciated!
The Profile asks for the benefits to be reported in the untaxed income section, excluding benefits belonging to the student, so you will report the benefits received by you and your younger child. You are correct that nothing is reported on the FAFSA.
PI-165A - Enter the total annual (not monthly) amount of untaxed social security benefits (including Supplemental Security Income) that your parents received or expect to receive in 2014 for all family members except you, the student. (Do not enter the amount your parents received for you anywhere on this application.) Do not include any benefits reported elsewhere on this application. Be sure to include the amounts that your parents received for your siblings.

Thank you both very much!
I wanted to put in my 2 cents here and confirm that I had a conversation with FAFSA this morning and she confirmed that I do not put my daughter’s survivor benefits on the FAFSA. (I dont get benefits since we were not married so I cant confirm that)
Thank you @JessMN1974
You don’t include SS benefits on the FAFSA but you do report them on the CSS Profile.
