For those who have conquered junior year (or any of the following AP classes), can you provide some scheduling advice? Thanks for your help!

Tentative schedule:
AP Eng Lang
AP Calc BC
AP Biology
AP Euro/APUSH (still deciding)
AP Statistics
Honors French III

Is this schedule manageable? If you have taken any of these courses, would you recommend for/against them? Lots of reading/memorizing? I'd love to hear about your own experiences :) Thanks!

Thats very rigorous!
AP Bio, lots of memorizing.
APUSH, lots of memorizing. IMO the hardest AP since you need to know a sh1t ton of info.
AP Euro, if you have a good teacher, like APUSH. Bad teacher, and it’s worse.
AP Stats, easy, good stuff.
BC Calc, fast paced and difficult.
AP Eng Lang idk
Honors French 3, never took french, idk.

AP lang has a heavy workload if your teacher assigns lots of readings/annotations. APUSH has lots of notetaking, memorization isn’t that bad since most people have taken some easier variation of this class in elementary and middle school. Euro is fine if you’ve done world. calc is lots of studying and practice. stat is easy. french- kids at my school hate it, usually drop it for latin 1

Definitely a very rigorous schedule but you should be able to handle it. From my experience and what I hear on CC,
APUSH—good memory? if so, easy.
AP Calc BC—if your a math person, its pretty easy. AP test has good curve.
AP Stats—AP test is easy( I hear) and the class is one of easier ap’s
AP Eng. Lang—I learned a lot, wasn’t too much of a workload. If your good at writing, you’ll do well.
AP Bio—memorization all the way. Its easier than AP physics and AP Chem.

that’s a lot for junior year; i only took 1 AP this year, but that’s because it’s the main AP my school offers to juniors (people hear usually take most of their APs senior year), but i think if that’s normal at your school, it should be manageable, especially if you’re good at math (if math isn’t your best subject, BC calc will be a lot of work- i’ve heard that and AP bio are pretty hard). the only one on your list i’m currently taking is APUSH, which i think it’s bad at all if you just do the readings. there’s a lot of memorization when it comes to the AP, but i thought the class was quite manageable. i loved APUSH so i would recommend it, but take Euro if you think it’ll be more interesting.

I took a courseload very similar to yours junior year. It was tough but not impossible, and with good time management you can get through it and learn a lot. Just a thought though- perhaps you could drop AP Stats? Bio and USH are a LOT of reading and memorizing, and stats is just busy (although easy) work that would consume time better spent on your main subjects.

I’m taking 6 APs (Calc Chem Lit Gov Econ EnvSci) right now and play a varsity sport (among other committments). I have a social life. Nuff said.

Lang is mad easy, Bio/Euro/US is just memorization, Stats is a joke, Calc is just tough to get your hear wrapped around.

I think I’ll stick with APUSH next year…and hopefully the US/Bio and Calc/Stat combination strikes a balance between memorization and calculation.

Wow! That’s like the exact schedule I had last year. The only difference is I also had Orchestra and Spanish III instead of French.

AP Eng Lang: My most challenging class without a doubt. It required memorization, and a ton of reading. The teacher also assigned tons of projects and rather confusing assignments. It took me almost the entire year to learn how to write a good “AP-style” essay. Still, I learned a lot and enjoyed it. (except at 1 AM doing homework)

AP Calc BC: So, it was a pretty chill class. My math skills have been declining over the years, but I managed to get through pretty easily. It’s important to just be careful (remember the chain rule), memorize all your derivative and integrals, and be able to recognize them. A bit of innovation is needed too on the harder problems, but there’s very few of those. I screwed up on the AP exam and got a 4 though.

AP Biology: I loved this class. The material was interesting, and the teacher was very receptive. It required a lot of reading and memorization, but Campbell’s Biology is probably the best textbook I’ve ever used.

APUSH: Pretty easy.

AP Statistics: Pretty easy.

The classes you are taking mostly require memorization. If you don’t procrastinate (too much) and learn the art of skimming and selective-close reading, you will be fine. Far as social life i can’t say much, but learn the value of study groups as a time to hang out with friends as well as studying.

This year I’m taking APES, AP Physics C: Mechanics, Orchestra, WHAP, AP Chem, AP Psych and AP English IV. Just thought I’d throw that in.

This is a false dichotomy. IMO, if the OP is a bright kid with a knack for memorizing and problem solving, this should be doable. Of course, every school is different–the killer class at one may not be the killer class at another. OP, it’s up to you to do your research and make sure kids like you have found this classes doable. I made the mistake junior year of taking a class (IB Chem II HL) that’s known for being impossible for kids who aren’t sciences whizzes. It became a huge source of stress, and I spent more all-nighters than I’d like to admit studying frantically for tests and writing lab reports because I just couldn’t conceptualize the concepts and understand what was expected of me. Make sure there aren’t any “black holes” like that in your schedule, because they can make your entire schedule impossible.

Love the info on this thread. I’m planning my jr yr schedule too, and I’m taking
AP Calculus (CANT CHOOSE BETWEEN AB OR BC)
Choir
APENG
CPUSH

as for the rest, I have a four-pick-two choice: AP Stats/AP Physics B/AP Physics C/AP French.

I’m doing well in PreCalculus Honors and did fine in Alg2, IMO not b/c im smart but b/c i study a lot.

I want to go into sth like computer science. I’ve taken 2 yrs of Chinese outside of school and this is my second year of french. Do you guys think I should just drop French altogether (I’ve heard the AP French test is near impossible for non-native speakers. Is it worth taking the class but not the test?) so I can take more math and science courses?

PS sr yr i want to take compsci, Ap stats and physics C if I end up not taking them next year.
