Hello, first post here. I wanted to get some advice.

A bit about myself:
I transferred to a University from CC. I was excited to come live on Campus. Being a bit introverted, I looked at the housing options, and selected the Apartment style living. It's pretty nice with private rooms, bathrooms, living room, and kitchen. The problem is, this is my second semester, and I haven't made ANY friends. Sure, I've had a few acquaintances here and there, but I haven't met anyone I could call on a weekend to do something with, and it's getting awfully lonely.

So I have an opportunity to move to a suite style residence hall, but there were no singles available. Only doubles.

I'm a bit apprehensive about a double, as I'm an introverted person and I'm 26 years old, but I also want to get out of these darn apartments that, while only 15 minutes away from the main campus, feels like it's on the other side of the planet. What would you do?

I would love a single in an apartment. x_x

I also transferred in, I think I got a bad lotto number for housing, since I didn’t get a single or an apartment, so I ended up in a mini-suite (two doubles that share a bathroom) instead. Originally there were three transfers on my floor, and now it’s me and one other… the other 50 or so are freshmen.

If the suites there are like the ones here, you probably won’t be meeting a whole lot of people at this point in the semester, unless you’re out actively looking for friends. People tend to keep to themselves, there’s a couple girls who study in the lounge and you see people going to and from class, but that’s about it. Also, most of the upper division students seem to be in the upper div housing/apartments, or off campus, so I’ve never really felt that I fit in with my floor. If you can wander over and see what the suites are like, it might help you decide.

Only pros I’ve found are being 5 minutes from campus and 5 minutes from the dining hall (though the food usually sucks). My classes are still 15-25 minutes away, bit of a hike.

I guess you should weigh the pros/cons. Would having a roommate drive you crazy or cause you to lose sleep? Do you like to cook? Would you still have your own bathroom? Is distance the biggest problem, meeting people, or both? Is a bike/bus an option (assuming you walk)?

Tell people you have an apartment near campus and tell them you guys can hang out there. I dorm and I tell people that, and sometimes we hang out in my dorm.

Join clubs. There is a club for everyone. seriously
