Social welfare

<p>My first semester will be during the winter session of my local community college.
I'm looking to transfer after my associates and was really interested in Berkley's social welfare major because I want to become a social worker.
And then I read this:
<a href="http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/major/socwel.html"&gt;http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/major/socwel.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>This means I have to apply during the winter session semester I'm enrolled in?
Do I have to apply to Berkeley itself as well or just the major?
I am not sure how this works so I'm sorry if I'm asking ridiculous questions.</p>

<p>And last thing, I'm barely doing volunteer work and have nothing notable from my high school to offer.
I didn't take the SAT.
But I could sign up to take it in November and if I get a good score would that help my chances?</p>

<p>Thanks for any help!</p>
