Socializing at GW

How's the social scene at GW? By that, I mean are there a lot of diverse groups like in NY? I'm sort of a quirky introvert and I'm worried that I might not fit in at all :(

If you are introvert, you’ll be an extrovert rather soon! Classes, people, professors, the whole environment will force you to change your ways. In one year you’ll be celebrating with everybody else, just like last nite at the White House, trust me!

I’m pretty much a person who’s somewhat shy and quiet at first, but becomes really loud amongst friends. Do you think i might fit in at Thurston? I hear that Thurston is heavy on the partying. I’m okay with partying, just as long as it’s not excessively loud and full of drugs and booze and sex (like typical high school parties). But I’ve also read in another thread that parties aren’t usually in Thurston dorms??

Don’t you worry a bit!!
Look, I never did substance, didn’t need it to have fun, and you’ll find a group that will suit you, I have all the confidence in it!
They are clubs and organizations that will share your favorite activities, although you should try new things too, that is what college for, to find your niche! you need to expand your horizons, you’ll meet soo many people that one day, you’ll look back and smile. Every dorm will be a party dorm the first 2 weeks, then it calms down when tests begin to show up!
Thurston or Madison, same thing, besides, you will soon learn to live with total strangers, I did. Most of us were used to our parents doing things for us, and room service, no more! you are to learn to live on your own and your parents will be pleasantly surprised when you come back to visit them!

Thanks, Multitasker! I feel a bit more comfortable now with your reassurance! :D

you are quite welcome, I know you’ll love it here! Go Colonials!

I think everyone will find someone in Thurston, but it is the party dorm. yes, it is louder the first two weeks, but it doesn’t really “quiet down.” Upper ( and lower thurston when they can get away with it) party year round.
