Socially Awkward and Nerdy Guys

loloLOL!!!

^^ depends on the boy’s personality. if he’s quite reserved, I’d try to conversate with him…but if he’s outgoing and such I’d let him do the talking ;]

^^^ I do what desi_chick does,lol.

Maple likes what he’s hearing 8]

haha ooohhhh Maple

To the OP: Heh, I fit that description fairly well, and I’ve been in the situation you decribe… There you are, just minding your own business, when a cute girl comes up and starts asking you questions. You soon figure out that she doesn’t really need any information from you, and after that you just want her to go away so you can get on with whatever you were doing… But you don’t want to be rude… And every time you look at her you flinch, especially if she’s the flirty type…

lol i’m an aspie and i’ve gotten a couple of girls to fall over me. in fact i intentionally act socially awkward to attract some girls once they notice me (although there are few girls of that type, since I have to identify girls who don’t seem to be very socialized). few girls are aspie, but social anxiety disorder/avoidant personality disorder is a huge plus.

it’s intensely cute, especially since i got some of my non-aspie friends jealous

there is a risk though, due to their emotional instabilities. =/ (some of it’s my problem too). so the relationships end up somewhat “bipolar”.

“lol i’m an aspie and i’ve gotten a couple of girls to fall over me.”
Non-sexual double entendres ftw!

I’ve never been friends with socially awkward nerds, even though I’m nerdy myself. My nerdy friends are more weird than socially awkward.

I don’t even think I’ve SEEN a socially awkward nerd (who’s male). Maybe I don’t notice them because they’re not cute. :P

I’ve only dated “normal” guys.

You haven’t seen socially-awkward nerds because they are busy sitting at their desks at home, proving the Bellman-Ford algorithm in their spare time.

Or just playing World of Warcraft, I guess.

No, but even back in high school. I notice everything and everyone. There were no nerds who were shy and quiet. We were all just weird but still respected by everyone.

I’m pretty nerdy…in my school I’ve made a big nerd reputation, but I’m NOT socially awkward. I can deal with all sorts of people actually.
I give credit to my past-a rough past where I had to deal with all sorts of people from drunks to nerds to jocks…I can blend in pretty much.

Hence I’m kind of a complex person.
I’m good looking too :wink: I’m available ladies! :slight_smile: A lot of people compare me to Light Yagami from Death Note–minus his killer intent. hahaha.

Hmm so I actually feel like replying to my thread now.

@fuzzyfirebunny
Hahaha yea I agree! I’m not really attracted to the geeky/dorky guys either, who just can’t stop talking about Starcraft/Warcraft. That’s just kind of loser-ish stuff I don’t care about. Sorry if I offended any hardcore,beastly Korean players out there.
oh BTW, on that topic, Starcraft has to be strangest game ever. So there were these guys talking about zerglings(sp?) and capturing “adrenal glands”. And then I’m all surprised at how these guys know soo much biology, being math/physics nerds who adore criticizing it, and how it’s a measly “humanity” -_-. whatever. So then I ask them “lol, do you even know what they do?”…and they go “yea, of couse, it speeds them up”.
Fail.
(although it make sense b/c they secrete epinephrine and norepinephrine…but still). Thank god some other guy clarified the difference for me lolz.

Cool story bro

@tikiman53
I think I mean more like, I’d be impressed by them. As for which type of cute I’d say both. There are a lot of cute, nerd guys out there. :slight_smile: But then again, I don’t think I have physics standards. I care more on a large variety of intellectual factors. As long as your not hideous, I won’t avoid you lol.

And yea nerds don’t necessarily have to be just math. TBH, I’d be a sucker for a bio nerd, if we had any here. Any type of extreme intelligence in any subject is admirable. I have appreciation for lit and history nerds as well, but I just wouldn’t have much in common with them.

@proletariat.2
Whoaa, evo-devo stuff? That’s awesome! I’ve never met any guy who actually was interested in that kind of stuff. I’m actually doing a but of research on that right now actually. But, still that’s pretty neat lo

@desi_chick
Lol, half the fun, is getting them to finally open up and talk to you :)

@dunbar
Ugh no, pretentious talk, unless actually original means they’re either geeks or trying to hard. Nonchalant is the way to go.

@QuantumArbiter
Umm yea girls take initiative all them. As long as you don’t come off as a cocky ******* who’s completely unapproachable.

@MosbyMarion
Lol, do you really feel that annoyed or offended by girls like us? Although typically when I ask I care about what I’m asking.

@InquisitiveOne
Ha, I definitely think you are very interesting guy. Thoughtful, deep thinkers are always the most intriguing lol.

And btw I’m SURE there are loads of girls out there like me. You guys just haven’t been looking hard enough ;)

Yeah, I love evo-devo, and also evolutionary ecolo -
WAIT.
YOU’RE A GIRL.
runs

lol all the nerdy and smart guys I know aren’t exactly socially awkward or shy…all the good-looking/well-groomed ones are really arrogant lol. :frowning: It’s kind of sad. But I can def. picture someone like your description, meadow.

^^dudeee seriously?! That’s amazing hahaha. The department I work at it acually “Evolutionary Ecological Biology”, although the actual scope is more MolBio, with purposes in EEB. Did you ever by any chance do any sort of research? lol, just wondering. :D

^Lol, oddly I like both types. Arrogant can be nice, if done well

lol that IS true, now that I consider it.

See, attractive arrogance has to be done subtly, like oozing out in the form of smooth words, a haughty posture, and a lazy-ish smile. (shivers)

BADly done arrogance is loud, lame, and really quite annoying and rude.

do you find Frazier (from “Frazier”) sexy?

I curse like crazy in real life and even though I study a lot and get good grades (lol now I do; back then I sucked)… But I can control my usage of vulgar language, but I prefer to cuss like crazy 'cause that’s who I am LMAO but my friends don’t curse and they don’t care. Casual cursing, not the angry/insulting version. I talk normally, giggle, and put in a bunch of F and S and A and all that.

Yeah, am I a nerd or an annoying a-hole? Oh well I don’t plan on getting a girlfriend or even get married (grew up as an only child, love the freedom, does whatever the hell I want; don’t want someone restricting me) so hopefully cursing will keep them away froom seriously considering me, yeah? LOL… I like to talk about chess, weapons, and anything to do with school work/learning new stuff (except grades… no grades please).

Can’t curse on CC can I?

I can’t tell if fuzzyfirebunny was me or not.
