Sociology and business minor?

I am majoring in sociology but my department encourages students to choose a second major. I don’t have time for that. I’m at 5 years already and I probably have 2 left (be careful switching majors). I think doubling would add to much time. However, a minor would be possible. I’m thinking of getting a minor in business.

My hope is to become a professor, focused on teaching rather than research. What I’m hoping to get from the business minor is a little back up in case something happens to the teaching plan. I want to have a second set of skill or a foundation on which to grow if need be. I am wondering if this is a good idea. Is it worth the hassle or it waste of time and money?

One last question, I am a little confused about the difference between a Masters degree and a PhD. I know that the PhD takes much longer. What I am wondering is if you can teach at a college level with a masters degree? I’m not looking at teaching in a large ivy league school. Maybe a small private school, or even a community college. Like I said I want to TEACH not do a lot of research.
Thanks and sorry this was so long

I'm pretty sure you can teach at a community college level indefinitely with only a Master's. For 4-year schools, there are instructors who only have master's (at least at my university) but not professors, and generally they are working on getting their Ph.D's so that they can become professors (more pay).
