Hey, what's the difference between Cultural Anthropology and Sociology?

I know anthropology is the study of humans so i would assume the first is the study of human culture. The second i think my be the study of socities but i’m not sure.

The common stereotype is that sociology is the “study of the West” (that is, U.S. and Europe) and anthropology is the “study of the rest”. That’s just an old saw though so there’s limited helpfulness.

oh that was insightful. thanks.

there should be course descriptions for you to read

[Let me google that for you](http://lmgtfy.com/?q=difference+between+sociology+and+cultural+anthropology)

Sociology is more about the “what” and anthropology is more about the “why”. Sociologist use a lot of statistical data about societies whereas anthropologists study how we go to where we are today.

Today though the line is VERY blurred between the two. Basically, it’s the same thing but sociologists look at the more math/scientific, objective part of humanity where as anthropologists tend to look at the more human side, subjective, of who we are.

Hope that makes sense :).
