Are there any Sociology majors on here that were either accepted or rejected by UCLA? If so, can you post your stats? Thanks!

what the heck. i feel like ive looked at all the UCLA admit threads this past weekend and i only saw ONE SOCIOLOGY ADMIT?!

whats up? lol i really want to know who got admitted into sociology

seriously, please.
post up stats because i wanna know as well.

anyone know if changing into this major possible? i’ve email the department but they’re laggin a response…

gf rejected. 3.8 gpa/IGETC/great essay (it was actually published in a book on how to write personal statements) but no ECs… we followed assist for UCSD though so she was probably missing some prereqs

so i checked assist for ucsd soc majors, your gf was missing some prereqs if thats all she had completed. but seriously my heart goes out to her…because i think i’ll have a 3.8 when i put my app in. yikes.

was she tap certified? job? i think the no ecs probably hurt a little bit but best of luck to you both! :)

okay so she didn’t do the pre-reqs for ucla? that must be why.

we were dead-set on ucsd the whole time so it’s no worries. ucla was like an unlikely backup in the case that one of us was rejected to sd but for some reason we were both accepted to ucla.

this sucks lol. no one has come out and said anything about being a sociology admit. the major is already SUPER impacted, so i know thats definitely why your gf didnt get admitted. its like the soc admits are living in a ghost town :(

when do you think UCLA will post the stats? last year the average admit for soc was a 3.62, but ive been looking at the admit threads and last year for biochem the average was 3.66, and someone with a 3.8 didnt get admitted this year; in his thread he exxplained how hecalled ucla admissions. it seemed like what he was implying was that its 3.8 plus TAP for impacted majors or get rejected.

■■■.

just do math/econ instead I had no ECs and horrible essays and I was accepted.

if i did math, id forsure be staying one more year at cc lol but congrats on your acception anyway!

I don’t think this year’s average GPA for admits will drastically change from last year’s. I think a 3.6 with TAP is a lock for sociology.

how many honors courses do you need for tap?

that might depend on what cc you’re at. at smc, we needed 5 or more.

I definetely think with the interest in things like economics this year due to the current state of the u.s. Sociology is actually not as in demand as previous years with an extreme inflation of interest in business econ.if u notice on this board and throughout my conversations with others

yeah i think thats true, but i mean sheesh no soc majors have said anything =/

at my cc it was 18 units so roughly 6 classes depending on the units of each class

15 units for my school.

my friend got in with a 3.6 + TAP

i dont think ill make tap : ( but 3.8 honors ecs job igetc…etc

Isn’t honors & TAP interchangeable? At least at my school. SMC rep. Heehee (:

And I’m getting pretty scared. I’m a soc major too and I haven’t seen too many stats out there. So sad.
