I need some advice. I'm contemplating on changing my major to Sociology from Anthropology and taking another year at a community college to fulfill the prerequisites.

For those who are planning to transfer or have transferred with a major in Sociology, what pre-reqs are you taking/have you taken? I noticed that they are all different for every UC, whereas for an anthropology major, you only need to take three of the same classes: anthro 1,2, and 3.

Any helpful information on majoring in Sociology would be appreciated =)

Man, this is a pretty tough question. Cause some UC's require more or less pre-reqs than other UC's. But the two thing you MUST should fulfill for a Sociology major is "Intro to Sociology" and "Elementary Statistics" because these classes seem like the ones that overlap for some of if not all of the UC's. But the main question is: what school you do you want to aim for? UCLA, UCI, CAL? From there take classes that may overlap and fulfill one another's requirement.
I hope this helps.

Hey, I am applying to UCLA in November and I go to Moorpark CC. I know that you have to take Intro. to Sociology, Elementary Statistics, and then you have 3 choices: Finite Mathematics, Applied Calculus I, or Calculus with Anaylitic Geometry. Hope that helps!

For Cal the sociology prereqs are very simple...take intro to soc & statistics, you can take soc 5 once you get here, although if your ccc offers soc 5 (most of them do not) then you are in excellent shape, actually it might give you the edge since most soc majors have to wait until they get here to take it.
