sociology 1 has a limit of 280 and 155 are already enrolled. i'm number 34 on the waiting list. do you think i have a chance of enrolling in that class?

Yea you will most likely get in. The reason you're on waitlist even though the enrolled is less than the limit is because the seats for freshman have been taken up already while they still have open reserved seats for soph, juniors, and seniors. I doubt by the time school starts 100 or so soph, juniors, and seniors are gonna add, so they will then just unrestrict the seats and let the people off the waiting list.

And for most introductory classes like Soc1 with hundreds of seats, I don't think you will have much trouble getting in, even if there are restrictions and you add the class late. I've never had a problem with getting into a class. Of course, it depends on each class though.
