Yes, I know Michigan has a top three sociology department, but can anyone tell me more about the program? How are the classes...are they interesting, easy/difficult, work intensive, etc? How are the teachers? I'm interested in hearing anything related to the above questions. Thanks.

Well I'm new on the scene, but I'm a freshman in LSA honors taking Soc 195: Honors Principles in Sociology. I have to say my initial impression of the program is that it is AWESOME!!! Soc 195 is a seminar and this semester we are focusing on the cultures of iraq and america. The professor was consulted by the US Dept. of State before the decision to go to war with Iraq... I thought that was pretty cool.

i'm taking Soc 100.

There is a ton of reading.. i mean, sorry, not a ton. It's more like 5x a ton in a ton, if u know what i mean.

Basically, some of the readings are overlytheoretical, overly-analytical..they want to make you want to commit suicide.

U read about peoples thesises and books and arguments.

very hard to understand

chanman, what. I'm in SOC 100 and I think it's really easy so far. Who's your instructor? My professor is Luis Felipe Sfeir-Younis and my GSI is Ethan Schoolman.

i have de leon.

i wanted sfeir younis..he's rated 4.3 or something by ratemyprofessors.com as easy

mine is rated 3.0...argh!!
