I don't know if you're still in high school but if you think it's possible to get a full 7-8 hours of sleep every night in college, you're living in a fantasy world.

The food in my cafeteria isn't healthy (burger and fries almost every day) and they don't call it the "freshman 15" for nothing.

And, I do study for exams a WEEK ahead of time, and I still don't get enough sleep.

If you want your beauty sleep, don't apply to grad school/med school/law school because sleep doesn't exist in either of those schools.

No offense or anything, but that's the truth. :) But, if you are in college, please enlighten me on how you can achieve enough sleep. I'm lacking in this area. ;)

Yeah, but what can you do when the only time a class is offered is 8 or 9 am? There's no way I can go to sleep at 10 pm every night, especially with my roommate there, but even then, there's just so much going on in the dorms until at least midnight. I live on soda during finals, usually coke or mountain dew, because red bull is nasty and I don't like coffee either.

thanks AUlostchick! Not everyone has 11 am classes. (I wish!) Some of my classes aren't offered that late and I have no choice but to take it at an early time. And it stinks when you have people literally screaming down the hall or blasting their stereos.

I've only had red bull a couple times, but I could hardly drink it becuase of the taste. it really didn't seem to do much energy-wise either.
I don't like coffee either.

jksbond- reading comprehension, plz. i said that redbull and rockstar never had those effects on me, but redline did. it is much, much stronger than normal energy drinks. so much so that they're supposed to check ids when you buy it. i wish i could say that not sleeping for 3 days was an exaggeration; it would have made that week of my life so much more enjoyable.

neverborn- you, my friend, must be made of steel. i really didn't think redline would be a big deal (as i am a fourth year and have plenty of experience with energy-helping stuff) but it totally effed me up. hard.

You don't need all these things to keep you awake. When I had my finals, I would pretty much get up at 10:00, shower, eat breakfast, then live in the library the whole day, and well into the night, and I would leave at around 3 -5 AM. Normally, 5-7 hours is enough sleep for me when I know I have important **** to do.

This is all assuming dead week (the week before finals in which there is no class) exists at every university.

I used to down a Red Bull every day before school. I never really thought of it as a drug, so I didn't consider the possibility of becoming addicted. I started noticing that, on the weekends (w/o the Red Bull), I was extremely lethargic. I would usually end up drinking some coffee or tea to get my caffeine fix. I didn't think it was a big deal- after all, tons of people need a cup of coffee to get their day started, and I figured Red Bull was just caffeine in a different form. Then, after about a month, my sleep patterns started getting all messed up. I couldn't fall asleep at night (even though I was extremely tired), and, when I finally did, I would wake up AT LEAST 3-4 times in the middle of the night, unable to fall back asleep. After almost two weeks straight of this, I was completely wiped out. I figured it was the Red Bulls, so I stopped drinking them altogether. For several days, I had a huge headache and just sat around being completely unproductive. It wasn't a huge deal (obviously, it wasn't nearly as powerful as an addiction to cocaine or anything), and my sleep patterns went back to normal after about a week. I still have energy drinks once in awhile (during finals, when I have to pull an all-nighter, etc.), but I definitely wouldn't recommend drinking them for more than a few days in a row.

I drink tab.. it tastes disgusting but it does work. I drank whole cans of rockstar and full throttle and they do nothing for me... a tiny skinny can of tab keeps me awake for a LONG time. I only drink them for all nighters though, wouldn't wanna drink that normally...

I don't drink energy drinks or coffee. Coffee tastes bad, but I like the smell. I also like my frappacino breath. Mmm, mmm! Remember kids, water's the best!

all red bull is suger water with caffine
its just a suger-high and a cup of coffee.. I agree with jksbond007, it cant be that bad for you - except hard on your liver - but all soft drinks are
