What are some common programs used by engineers for their classes, especially electrical and computer engineers?

And are they provided by the college?

No they are not provided by the college, although they will have any required software on the computers in the Engineering Library.

MATLAB is probably the main one you will have to worry about for your first year.
However, if it’s usually important enough, DC++ will have it.

some courses do provide software for that specific course, for example quartus is provided for ece 2300. However general software that you’ll need in multiple classes such as matlab isn’t provided.

That’s Cornell’s way of telling you that you will never succeed in engineering unless you earn the rank of master pirate.

I don’t know of anybody who actually buys this software.

Yeah, I torrented MATLAB r2009a when I thought I was going to take 1112…but I switched to 1110 in the end

lmao, i just torrented matlab ananya, from you know where.

if you take the transition class, you’ll probably still need matlab

yeah! spread the word…make sure you guys torrent the hell outta your current ISP!!!

you wont be able to torrent on campus without being charged :D

oh and if dc++ is still around we’d love to have your stuff

dont torrent the obvious though…i think most popular movies/music/software is available…

no worries about that, i mostly torrent obscure music, anime, and indie movies
and i’ve been stocking up like crazy since i found out that 10GB cap
