Solicitation from members of College Confidential - not ok!

Hello - has anyone else received solicitation from kimurafuju saying they are from CC asking to help your child get higher SAT scores? I do not think this is in the best interest of CC to allow this to happen and will make sure to delete my info and let others know that this occurs on the website unless I am mistaken and this is something that is not condoned.

@Momtofourkids The person has already been banned. Of course the site does not condone it. I got the PM myself and got rid of the guy immediately.

Reducing the number of spam PMs is the reason we have the rule in place that users can’t send PMs unless they have 15 posts. If they do, there’s not anything we can do to prevent people from sending PMs. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

Thank you - was not sure if I was the only one who had never gotten one and then just did. Great job getting right on it, I really appreciate it! I am a little weary as I just went through another email issue with a company recently - once bitten twice shy!

This site is very good about removing flagged posts and/or banning posters when necessary. Unlike some sites I’ve been on they make reporting suspicious posters very easy.

As an FYI, the forum rules state: "While occasionally you may choose to contact an individual member via email or private message when the member accepts such messages, solicitation of such contacts in the forums is not permitted. "

So, no, it’s not condoned. But since PMs are,by definition, private, the only way we know about them is if a user reports them or if the spammer is dense enough to spam a moderator. As a further FYI, the spammer joined at 10:33 and was banned at 11:26.
