Solicitations for SAT study products

Wondering if this has happened to anyone else. DD is a rising sophomore. Today we received a call from a place selling cd/online sat study materials. They claimed that she had checked a box somewhere expressing an interest in such materials. She swears she never checked any boxes (which seems likely after I ranted about the number of calls we received the past 2 years for DS). I think it's outrageous for them to try to claim she asked for info if she never did, and if previous experience is any guide they'll call unceasingly for the next 2 years. How best to get them off my back?

Do Not Call registry, combined with asking that specific company to cease calling you. Then if they call you after you’ve registered, you can file a complaint with DoNotCall.

I’m on the do not call, but still get these. I’m not sure how they are getting around it by saying “your child checked a box requesting” this. I’ve gotten them for both my kids, the youngest has not yet taken the PSAT, etc. I just say - no they didn’t and hang up. My son would never have requested any study materials, and my daughter has never had the opportunity to check that. Last time they called for S I told them he is all done with his testing and they said they would take him off the list - we’ll see!

I think it’s cause your name is sylvan. ;)

I had this problem too. About half a dozen calls from a company claiming D had signed up for a free trial at a college fair. She had not, and in fact had never been to a college fair. It took a fair amount of threatening to get them to take us off the list. And yes, we are already on the do not call list.
