Assume a strong essay

I'm not sure whether I am considered IS or OOS, however. I have attended HS in Georgia, but I was born in Florida and my tuition will be paid using the Florida Pre-Paid System. How would my chances differ if I was considered OOS as opposed to IS?

IF Considered OOS:
UF is 95% in-state and only 5% out of state.
That means:
ONLY 322 slots open for out of state students!

The SAT numbers for that 2007 enrolled class were:
Bottom 25%- 1140
Upper 75%- 1360

Your SAT is 1350 which somewhat makes you competitive. A 1360 + would help.
IMHO if you are OOS you need to be at top 75%-100% on the SAT.
Your GPA and top 10% are exactly what UF is looking for.
I'd say 75% if you are female & 70% if you are male.

IF Considered IS:
I'd say 90% IF you applied way before the deadline.
If you waited until the last minute then 85%.

They don't set aside a certain, fixed number for in-state students and accept few OOS on purpose. Sure, because it's a public school they're required to educate mostly Floridians, but they're not restricted to a certain proportion so long as it's above 80% or so, like New College. I think you have a very good chance, and being OOS shouldn't hurt you at all.
