Solid Mid/High-Level CS Internship Programs?

Hey guys,

I'm a second year computer software engineering student at UF right now. I've taken all of my super fundamental courses in the field (programming fundamentals, discrete math, computer organization, digital logic, data structures and algorithms). I have interests in artificial intelligence and HCI on the technical side, but I also love interacting with people and exercising my leadership skills in a software development role.

I'm looking hard for an internship this summer and I've been shooting applications to all of the major tech companies I can think of and have heard back from a few (flew to Seattle for MS - no offer, phone interviews with Google - no offer), but my summer is still empty. What recommendations can you guys make on tech companies (or even non-tech companies with a software side) that a fairly competent software engineering student might be a good fit for? Additionally, what do you think I could do to start being a more competitive candidate come my junior year?

I'll be happy to provide more information on me if you all need it, but this should be a good start. Thank you guys so much in advance for your help.
