Hello everyone. Like most people here, i'm looking for advice. Though, i'm not going to post my stats right now (I'm only in 10th grade anyways).

Well, last year (my freshman year), College wasn't even on my mind. I didn't slack, though. My Gpa is about 3.5 (unweighted). I plan to bring it up to 4 by the end of this year.

And obviously, Yale is my dream college. My only question is- Is piano even worth using as one of my main talents? It's a pretty common instrument. I was planning on taking Advanced Piano until senior year but now that is looking unlikely.

Should I stay with it?.. Or should I try to focus on some of my other talents? ( Writing or Photography)

Do what you are passionate about. I'd say, stick with piano and choose one of the other 2 talents to focus on as well. Piano by itself is, as you noted, rather common. But if you do it with passion it can be part of a strong portfolio. To add uniqueness I'd say choose 1 more.

Thank you for the speedy reply, and your post was helpful. I will be working very hard to build up a strong portfolio, especially this summer. I'm taking latin and spanish online, and french during the next school year. Certainly in for a hard summer. Though, I am looking forward to it.

Good for you for challenging yourself like that. Remember, these activities are what set you apart, but you also need a very high GPA. Like you said, you need work hard to bring it up. Don't lose sight of that.
