Some Advice

<p>These are old facebook statuses of mine, I just felt like some people could use some words during the admissions process to remind you all that it shouldn't be about colleges. It's about you and how you deal with you. You may want to know what's good enough for colleges but learn how to make yourself better.</p>

<h2>This should probably be posted on the College Essays thread but I think more people view this thread and most of the people here need the empowerment.</h2>

<p>Words are a reflection of who you are, they reflect your mentality and your personality. They distinct you from someone who deserves and one who will become nothing. Do not impress people with intellectual words, impress them with life in your words. Everything you say is part of a storybook called "My Life" and everyone else happens to be a book critic. </p>

<p>There's only 3 different types of people in this world: those that matter, those that don't matter, and those that will matter, your job is find out your place in those people's lives.</p>

<p>Let what you do be a representation - a compliment. It takes effort to be attractive. Whether it's your words, your thoughts, your clothes, and even your smile. Convince people that your effort is effortless. Be confident about being confident. Believe in yourself and others will believe in you and what you have to say.</p>

<p>So I'm done rewriting my personal statement: changing, adding, and making it better - I realized I am not perfect, but through what I convey through my writing by inspiration and goals I will try my best to achieve that, and colleges don't expect perfect, so I know they will see that "that" extra betterness will come from the university that accepts me.</p>

<p>To give is to receive -- when you give a part of yourself, you receive growth</p>

<p>Through my veins runs oil, and when someone utters hatred in my presence it ignites the steady embers of my heart into an adrenaline of fire and passion to only say these words back "You are nothing but a worthless opinion"</p>

<p>I believe one of the main flaws of our generations is that we are so caught up on trying to impress our peers and not the generation that brought us forth. You'll be surprised by how much wisdom every adult has to offer.</p>

<p>Although the odds may be against you, give them reason to believe otherwise</p>

<p>"(My Name) I think you're trying too hard with these college essays." Maybe it's because I wish to prove through my writing that I'm not a story, I'm not an Hispanic overcome with worthless opinions, I'm not a number, and I'm not asking for sympathy but that I'm (My Name) and I wish to go to your damn University because I will dedicate myself and succeed and inspire those who cross my path.</p>

<p>Colleges want students that fly not those that float</p>

<p>I laugh at everyone who gets gifts from others, there's only one gift I need and that's the one I give myself, Happiness. The Precious Present</p>

<p>All this merry atmosphere, snow, and good Holiday is what I needed; a good break from school, a break to realize how much I grew up. I'm almost at college, a few years ago that felt like it'll be forever, but now I'm here. And I'm not scared anymore. Well maybe just a little.</p>

<p>With great power comes great responsibility. And the problem with people now a days, they are not responsible because they are ignorant of power they can attain from being knowledgeable and wise</p>

<p>You cannot just hope 2011 will be a better year, one must take the initiative to improve on the errors of oneself and the life and people that one surrounds oneself with</p>

<p>Brilliance is such a beautiful word. Just like a white rose, hard to find, and when found it's a magnificent moment to witness such life. It is not something you can pick up, it'll prick you. You must let such flowers grow on it's own merit. The world will nurture it until it influences the life of all things around it, and one day we'll see the bloom of a garden of white, pureness, true beauty.</p>

<p>Maybe I've been in a dream like state all a long. Maybe dreams are for losers who don't have the numbers to back up their "supposed" potential. Maybe I thought too better of myself. Or maybe you can get out of my life if you wish to bring me down. My mind harnesses the ability that of any Ivy League professor and the strength of any world leader. I will be educated, I will conquer, and I will then educate.</p>

<p>Empowerment is the most powerful mindset one can have. As Lupe Fiasco has once said, "I get my energy from my inner G."</p>

<p>I love New York because we are able to accept each other for who we are unlike the unappreciative nobodies out there in the world with nothing better to do than stick their heads in their books and be ignorant about the true happenings in the world. Regardless of where I come from, I am blessed with knowledge and experiences that no book or class will ever be able to teach me. And I truly take pride in that.</p>
