and thats about it. im not to picky so if the school is small its not a issue. prestige is nice but I dont mind public state schools. I just want a good education! I plan on majoring in psychology and following a pre med track with hopes of one day being a psychiatrist!

Is money an issue? If so, do you have any idea of how much your family’s EFC will likely be? If not, do you know about how much they earn?

How are UT Austin and Tx A&M at meeting need for in-state?

I don’t think you have to go far away in order to get what you need. I think I’ve also heard that UT Dallas has a good pre-health/med program (can anyone verify).

If money is an issue, and you want to apply OOS, then try to stick to either privates that meet full-need (with no loans) or schools that will give you great merit. If you’re going to need to take out loans for med school (many kids do), you’ll want to minimize any undergrad loans. :)

Thanks for your input! Yes I will need FA…my parents together maybe 70-80k a year. They arn’t helping me pay for college because they think I should go to community college (this is why I sometimes dislike close-knit mexican families) :)

You should get some very good merit money at UT Dallas. You would get into UT Austin based on the top 10%. With your family making 70-80K you won’t be eligible for much financial aid.
