Some Basic Questions

Ok.. I'm new to these message boards, so bare with me. This fall I will be beginning my freshman year of highschool (I know, I'm young to be worrying about college already.) Over the past few months I've had a realization that MT is what I want to do with my life. I've been in plays and musicals at school and with performing arts summer camps, but nothing big. Over the summer I've been researching colleges that have good BFA programs in MT. I meet with my college advisor soon, and I want to have some basic facts about schools that I'm interested in. The next few years of my life are going to be busy ones, because I have to catch up on everything MT that I should have been doing since I was 6! Advice on how I can fit as much possible in to the next few years while maintaining good grades at Missouri's hardest college preperatory private school would be GREATLY appriciated.

A quick list of my studies for the next year:
*SinglyNone (all girls elite a capella choir)
*Tap/Jazz dance classes at the top tap school in KC about 3 times a week
*Peforming Arts Focus Program (specialty school program based on movement, acting, etc. classes)
*MTYP (Music Theatre For Young People, local MT program)
*Highschool Choir

Many of you have Ds and Ss that are very talented in MT, so if you could let me know if there are things I should be doing that I'm not, or things that could wait? I'd love to get into a great school like CMU, BW, BoCo, or CCM, but without lots of needed experience in the next few years I don't think I could easily get there!

Thanks for your help!

It's very important that you read as many of the old posts as you can and the FAQs. This is the starting point for all discussion. Certainly, the areas you are focusuing on are i mporant. Some kids do more than other kids. There is no automatic corelation between doing more and getting in to desirable places. But practice does make perfect.

I think once you have gotten yourself up to speed on things already written you will find lots of posters very happy to give you personalized information.

brdwbnd- You're young and sound like you have alot going for you! Welcome to the forum. It sounds like your plans are all heading in the right direction. I don't think it sounds like you're behind or need to catch up at all. Like NYtheatermom recommended, read up on old discussions, you'll do great!
