Some decisions are posted in Albert

Despite what the NYU admissions website said re: date and that there would be an email sent and nothing posted in Albert, some admissions info IS actually in Albert as of this afternoon. Heads up.

what is albert?

Both S’s accepted. When do we hear about studios?

Albert is the NYU online portal where you can check application status, etc. Google “NYU Albert” and you’ll find the page.

MTTwinsinCA - Last year there was about a week before the studio decision came over. Congrats to both your young men!

D just sent me a message (she is in school right now) that she has been accepted to Tisch!

Congrats to all above!! Studio placement letters usually come about a week after NYU admissions decisions. Enjoy this happy moment!

Congrats, ParadiseMT! Have been following your posts!

Ditto to what glassharmonica said! So glad ParadiseMT got into Tisch. My son is a sophomore at NSB (Acting) so he takes acting with the MT kids. He absolutely loves the school and will be an RA in the fall (free room and board-yay!) The tuition bill is killing us but he’s worth it! Congrats!

@glassharmonica @ supportive - Thank you very much! Tisch is D’s one of the top schools. Still waiting for one - tomorrow! But could not asked for more. She got both to Syracuse and Tisch with scholarship - after 3 early consecutive rejections! It was indeed an roller coaster ride. Will provide update once we get to know the studio - hoping for NBS. Then, some hard decisions to make - but a pleasant one :)

You’re welcome! By the way, one of my sisters was born in Guam (we were a military family).

Congrats to all!

What are the various studios you might be assigned to if you auditioned for MT? Are they all MT or are some for other things?

Good luck on studio assignments next week!

MomCares, there is only one full MT studio at Tisch and it is New Studio on Broadway. The other studios are acting studios. However, some of the other studios offer some MT and some voice and dance. Plenty of MT students do land in acting studios but are still cast in musicals and many go onto MT careers. Also, at Tisch, your studio assignment is just for the first two years, referred to as Primary Studio. After two years (or even after three years), a student could elect to train in another studio (some require auditions to transfer into).

PS, until the last few years, the MT studio at Tisch was CAP21 (the studio my D started in), but now it is NSB.

@soozievt - Thanks so much for the explanation! Fingers crossed that you all get offers in the studio you hope for and get fantastic scholarships.

I noticed on the “Accepted” thread that some folks already list NSB. Do some people already have studio assignments – maybe from ED or something?

This time of year is so exciting!!

The people who listed NSB are from the ED round. The RD round accepted students have not yet received their studio assignments.

However, I will mention that an applicant can specify at the audition that they will only accept X (name) studio and no others and if they say that and are accepted then I guess they would know their studio. But many, like my kid, particularly in the RD round, say their first choice studio but are willing to be considered for other studios if not placed in their first choice one and THEN decide if they wish to attend. The latter can only increase one’s odds to get into Tisch because if you are only willing to accept one studio, and they like you but can’t place you in that studio, you will no longer be considered. Many MT talented kids do attend the Acting studios and still pursue careers in MT and do train in MT in some ways at Tisch and are cast in musicals and are in things like a capella, etc.

Last year my D was accepted to Tisch ED but still did not get her studio assignment until the rest of the kids go theirs. I am assuming, if a student is listing a particular studio on their acceptance then they must have indicated that that was the only studio they were willing to be a part of.
