My daughter is working on her housing application, and is trying to figure out which dorm to list as her 5th choice. Looking for opinions on 1835 Hinman, PARC, Ayers Res. College, Sargent. What is the atmosphere like in these places - not just "partying" but friendliness, dorm activities, etc.? Which have air conditioning? She's checked out the North by Northwestern housing guide already, and is looking for some further opinions/details.
She's very uncertain about her major, and will have classes on both ends of campus.

I wouldn’t say any of those is a bad choice, though PARC is frequently (and somewhat fairly) less highly sought after. It might help to know which other dorms she put as her 1-4 in order to recommend a number 5.

Hi, Arbiter!
In order, Willard, Shepard, Allison, Chapin (Humanities). Likes the first 3; Chapin seems a bit on the small side, but the Humanities focus is attractive. Really at a loss as to 5th choice. Likes the Res. College concept very much, but not sure about liking the subjects/focii of Ayres or PARC - interested in knowing more (social environment, what types of people they attract, etc.). 1835 Hinman might be where she is leaning toward most at this point, but she’s really uncertain - has the + of having its own dining hall, and it looks like it has A/C – what is the social environment like there (again, not just drinking/partying)? And Sargent - comments on the NbyNW site are mixed, not sure what to think. (and in spite of the fact that I liked Bobb when I lived there, that was back in the Dark Ages and it seems like it might be a bit too crazy now…)
