Maybe he will be like that girl at Stanford, who didnt get accepted and instead just live in one of the dorms and pretend like she was in the college.

I am willing to bet he didn't really get in, but whatever

"he won't post a new thread with his complete application a short time after rejection, he would be busy with depression and anger."
actually, some people may find CC as a way to vent off some anger and frustration. some may seek consolation from others or just wish to express their inner anger at being rejected. and LadyLou, read and review all of his app materials. his essays tend to be very circumlocutory and is chock full of contradictory statements. they would make any sane adcom officer wince and cringe.

If he got in, a piece of me will die...

It's natural that he started a new thread. For better or worse, he is a "figure" on CC's Penn board, and as preMedguy said, CC is a place to vent and cope with depression and anger (the disappointment is apparent in this thread). He applied ED frosh year and was rejected. He applied again, basically with the same application but different "numbers". If Penn admits transfers on the basis of #, then maybe he did get in. But if Penn places some sort of emphasis on personal maturity/character, then his app has ways to go before it is deemed "presentable".

A part of me is sympathetic. Chanman wanted something and he tried his best to get it - this action is very noble in nature, regardless of how misguided the ultimate goal was. But judging (yes, I'm making a personal judgment, the same judgment the adcoms must've inevitably made combing through his app) from his essays and his rather ridiculous/superficial infatuation with the glamor of a Wharton degree, he shouldn't have been admitted, and I would bet you that he wasn't.

apply again next year

we should make wagers, i think he got in

Nah, I'd bet he didn't: here's my resoning:

--He wouldn't have mentioned dropping out and real estate and all that stuff if he just wanted to see how people would interpret his essays with the assumption that he was rejected.

--Considering how obsessed he was with Wharton, pulling a "Stanford girl" and pretending like he got in seems like a possibility.

--If he was really dropping out (which I think he is), he would be leaving CC, and would probably rather leave CC with everyone thinking that he got in.

--His essays were horrendous.

I agree with jnpn...especially with point four. His essays were way over the top. What the hell was he thinking when he wrote this:
I choose Business. Life. Wharton. 101%.
And this blatant statement:
I want the University of Pennsylvania.
Why? So you can pork it?

Frankly, I'm not impressed by his website either. It's not open yet, so it's not worth bragging about. Anyone can say s/he is opening a site, not everyone can actually open it. Additionally, I see little use to the site because there are already a large number of networking sites for college students.

^ lol

I think he MIGHT have gotten in, though his essays were pretty eurgh. Maybe he wasn't lying or being dumb when he said he dropped out of UMich. Regardless, I'm sure one of the current students can look up "Felix Chan" in the student directory next year.

florazhao got into Wharton from UMich this year. She might be able to tell us what's going on...

someone from my school who i know got into wharton off the waitlist this year (only one apparently), and i can say that he is a far from impressive character, especially in the so-called "personality" department...

ladylou, an applicant's "personality" that the adcom officers may discern from his applicaiton materials can be very different from his actual personality.

as long as his credentials are in order (and assuming he doesn't suck at writing), he can write essays that may portray him as a pretty decent person.

I just don't think he would come back and post "I didn't get in" for as long as he did for the sole purpose of "testing the CC'ers." After this whole ordeal... if you get in, you're going to be excited and spam the freaking heavens with it. I think he just flipped it around after hearing all the feedback about his essays.

yeah, i don't think he got in.

the only way we'll ever know is to wait and see if 'felix chan' ever comes up in the penn online student directory.. hahah.

guys he didn't get in. I think he should've gotten someone to read over his essays- maybe they would have caught the contradictions, grammatical errors, etc.

dude, you are a goddamn nutjob. i could totally see you being cut from the same cloth as the virginia tech shooter. i pray you didn't get in, and based on my gut, i don't think you did. from what i hear, there were extremely few offers of external admission to wharton, and if you are among the cream of the crop that made that cutoff, i fear for humanity. furthermore, if i have to take management 100 with you, i may shoot myself and save you the work, nutcase.

look at his essays. there should be no debate of whether or not he got in.

People like you are the reason why Virginia Tech happened. Leave him alone instead of further opressing him. Let him sulk in his self pity and let this thread die.

leave the guy alone

bump just stumbled upon this i thought this was a pretty interesting story

Hey, I’d just like to give you an honest take.

The Ivies/Penn absolutely abhor suspensions. I’m certain that they led to several rejections I had this year. One of my friend’s decisions was rescinded in light of a suspension after an ED acceptance! Imagine that.

Good luck, sir.

Edit: oops, the post is years old…
