Some general questions

Do legacy’s actually help you get in? One of my parents attended this university and I just want to know if a legacy helps.

When my parent attended they said the school had a small but nice biology/chemistry department. Is this still true?

Obviously I need to go visit and talk to a representative from the university but any prior info would be great. Thanks!

I can’t answer the first question since I honestly don’t know and I don’t want to give you wrong information. You should probably ask someone in admissions that question. I’m sure someone can give you answer but I wouldn’t read into it too much since no one who is going to answer your question here is in admissions.

As for the second question… My roommate is a bio major and he was skeptical in doing bio at American University but he said he found the classes truly hands on and engaging because the classes were so small. He also said that because of the small classes, you get to know your professors so much better without even having to go to office hours as much (yeah, I know AU classes in general are also small). He also said many of the friends he made that graduated already have gone to great med schools.

That’s all I can say since I’m not a bio major though. Hope it helped!
