I have been looking into schools in Virginia to apply to when I graduate (I am a Junior) and just found out about George Mason opening an awesome Art and Visual Technology Building on campus in the fall of 2009. They have also begun to take the necessary steps to become a NASAD accredited school of art and will hopefully receive this distinction at the same time as the art center opens! As a Virginia resident I am looking at applying to a number of state schools, W + M , UVA, VT, etc. and plan on going to grad school. I know W + M and UVA are tough to get into, so I was really happy to learn of another state school that looks to be on the rise in the area I am interested in. If anyone else knows anymore about GMU and its art and visual technology department, I would like to hear about it. Thanks!

Imagine, VCU actually is one of the highest ranked art programs in the country, not to mention just in Virginia. The catch: it isn't in a great area.

I have not seen the VCU art building;however, I have been told that it is a bit old and not well maintained. You would have to check out the school for yourself.

taxguy, thanks for your reply, but I am not at all interested in VCU. I have been there on a number of occasions and it is just not what I am looking for in a school, even though it does have a good rep for its art program. Anyone with any information on George Mason University's Art and Visual Technology department?
