Apparently I am missing a rec. letter from one of my teachers, so I informed my teacher of this (she said she would do it ASAP) and put the rec. letter in her mailbox afterschool on Wednesday.

Will this affect my chances of admissions since it is very close to Dec. 10th when they release the decisions? I am very worried because this teacher is the one I am closest to and she probably wrote a really good rec. letter.

I think you will be okay as long as they receive it by the time that they start reviewing applications (which is the first week of December). Did she just forget to write your rec letter? That really sucks.

whoa. ok, they def start reviewing apps before the first week of december...i'm pretty sure they start nov 1. in any case, don't worry ramjag. i'm sure they'll still read the letter even if they've already considered your app.

no...actually, i think they don't start reviewing them until after December 1. They have to wait to get all the **** in...I read it somewhere, then again im also insane, so.....

they prob start reading apps before dec but make their final decisions after dec 1 (i think it would be too difficult if they didnt even look at apps before then) but on another note does anyone know how many apps they received for early and when notification is going to be (is it the same as the other ivies for online)

From the Brown Admissions website:
"Under the Early Decision program, almost all of your application credentials must be received by November 1. All completed Early Decision applications will be reviewed after December 1, and decision letters will be mailed in mid-December."

Last year they had admissions decisions online on December 10, a Friday. I'd guess that we'd either get decisions on December 10 (a Saturday) or December 9 (a Friday).

Anyone want to call the Brown admissions office?

I'm also missing a letter. My GC told me not to resend it until he talks to the brown admissions guy. He promises (and best be right) that it's not a problem.

I spoke to the regional director in our area and she said they actually start reviewing the applications as soon as they come in - so if you got yours in by Oct, they started looking at it. It goes through a few screenings. The regional director looks at it first and if she/he doesn't think you are Brown material, you are put in the "no" pile immediately. Those who go on to the next level get reviewed by a higher committee that eventually makes the decision. It probably takes weeks to go through all the applications and much discussion on certain "maybe" people. They will start notifying mid Dec (but last year many heard by Dec 10, so it may come a little earlier, no later than mid Dec).

will decisions be online on dec 9?
i would assume so because of dec 10 online notification last year, but i haven't seen anything "official" from brown about this

I don't know when notification will actually happen, but my guess is that you can access an online answer with the password they gave you when you received your info from Brown regarding them getting your application. I would assume this decision will be available before an official letter. I would try going online on Friday Dec 9 and keep checking daily until you receive it. But, this is only a guess/suggestion on my part. Good luck to all!
