A)University with strong physics and electrical engineering programs and also a decent economics program, well recruited for its program, high grad school rates, allowing the possibly of law school for none typical law track student.

B) Very Research Oriented, One of those schools your see in the journal or even news for discovering this or inventing that

C)Location...I prefer the Northeast as I am from MA. If not in New England area, I prefer a major city(think Boston(1st choice),NYC,San Francisco area(2nd choice),Seattle,Chicago,Toronto...etc) I don't care if Harvard was in North Dakota, I am not going to the middle of nowhere.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM: low grades
3.28 GPA(Though the way we weight in on the low side)
Top 25%
30 ACT score
2060 SAT
Great EC's(Band.Jazz Band,Mock Trail,Robotics,Math Team...etc)
Has Job (15-20 hour a week)
Hardest Classes(AP Calc,AP Chem,AP Lit,Honors Physics,AP Historyno AP here)

Grades have greatly improved, did poorly as a freshmen because I was new to the school system and knew no-one, things got better Pulling nearly a 4.0 for senior year, high 3.0s for junior year

Boston University and Northeastern are good choices for you. If Washington, DC, is at all attractive, look at George Washington U, American U, and Catholic U.

USC as a reach
UTexas
Seattle U
Miami U (Oxford) don’t know how big the city is
St. Louis U
Loyola Marymount
Iowa State

It’s hard because of your “city” requirement…There are a lot of schools that would be matches/safeties for you but they’re not in big cities…such as…

Clemson
Auburn
Gonzaga (don’t know how it’s location is)
UIowa

I think that Clemson is a match for you. Here’s why:

A) Clemson has an incredible science and engineering program. The economics program is also solid, while not it’s strength. It has gotten high achieving students into law schools at Harvard, UVA, UNC and UChicago.

B) Clemson is a major research university as are most big public schools. We recently got a huge grant from the Department of Energy for research related to sustainability. We also just graduated the first person in the country in a degree in automotive engineering, helping to build the “car of the future”.

C) I’m from Massachusetts (Boston to be precise). To be honest, Clemson is not in a big city BUT it is not in the middle of nowhere exactly. It is in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the shores of Lake Hartwell which offers many recreational activities. So while North Dakota may have nothing to do, we have sunny weather, hiking, sailing, swimming etc… Also you’ll never be bored here, we were ranked top 20 by the Princeton Review for best quality of life and we have the second happiest students (after Brown). People here involve themselves in tons of clubs/activities and people are always playing frisbee/football on Bowman. Since there are 12,000 people here, you’ll always find tons of people who want to go and do stuff.

Here’s the good news:
Your SAT score is excellent which will make up for your low GPA score. I got into Clemson with a 3.06 GPA (I did have a 3.7 senior year which helped) and a 2020 on the SAT and a 34 on the ACT. I think you definitely have a shot at being a future Tiger!
