For those of you who are waiting for scholarship/finaid info, when I checked D's finaid status on One Stop it showed she was awarded a scholarship from her department or college. (That is all the detail it showed). The finaid part hasn't been awarded yet (fingers crossed) so maybe there will be more. So if you are waiting you might want to checkout One Stop or your U web account to see if anything is in there!

Lol…I just checked my OneStop and it claims they’re offering me less money than my letter said they were!

I’m not worried though.

Aww, mine is still on that first “Complete your FAFSA” step, and nothing comes up for the awards. Was your D eligible for one of the major-related scholarships? Maybe that’s what it is, and you could probably get more detail on the college specific scholarships list. And congrats!!!

My one stop account also says I’ve been offered about $7000 less than what my letters state. That’s the stuff nightmares are made of - thinking college is mostly paid for, only to realize that it’s not ! I double-checked my letters though, so I’m not too worried…the others probably just didn’t get entered into the system…

That’s what I would think also. We had our FAFSA sumitted for quite some time before it showed up as moving to the next step. This certainly is a herky-jerky process. And re the scholarship, there was no info where it came from other than from the department or college so I’m not sure if it was from the CLA (separate application), or not.

Yayy! Some money appeared today for me too, although sadly not anywhere near to what I hoped to get…in fact I got the Presidential Scholarship (3K per year) which has “contribution to diversity” as a part for it, so that confused cause I’m def. not a URM. But anyway, I know some of you said money was missing from your notices online. I’m not trying to be nosy, but is it need based or merit based Finaid.

I’m just trying to figure out if this is all I’m going to get or if there’s something else that’s also just not listed. I would veerrryyy much appreciate any info you guys can give me.

Sugar sweet, some more money appeared last night so keep checking. I think this is the scholarship money round and the finaid $$ will come later (at least judging from old posts).

The money that’s missing from my profile is merit-based.

how do you see what merit based scholarships you have received? all i can get to is financial aid (FAFSA).

From the “my Finances & Daily Living” page click the link on the left, in the “OneStop quick view” section, under “Financial Aid” (mine says “You have not applied for 2009-2010 financial aid. Apply now.”). Then click “2009-2010 academic year (includes 2010 May/summer term).” After this is done loading, click “Your Financial Aid Awards” on the right.

found it, thanks!

Question - Would our total EFC calculated represent the total EFC for all children together in college, i.e. evenly divided among all those in college? Does this make sense?

woohoo, I got some $$$ too!
But i dont know what the name of the scholarship is…it just says “National Scholarship Est”…is that it?

Norabelle: That’s either the Maroon or Gold National Scholarship, which depending on the level covers half ($2000) or all ($4000) of the difference between in state and OOS tuition.

ooh i see… i checked it, thanks!

Finally, some money (Presidential Award $3000) appeared today for me too (I didn’t check this week at all, so it might have been updated earlier). Unfortunately it is much less than what I had hoped for. Yet, it is better than no money. Since I did not apply for FinAid, I wonder whether that could have affected the award amount. Everyone from my HS who I knew had been hoping to get merit awards has heard from the U by now.

I still haven’t gotten any money. They got my FAFSA on 2/24 and they are still reviewing it.

When I click on Financial Awards, it says “The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities has not awarded you any financial aid for the 2009-2010 academic year.”

ARGH.

funployee, mine said the same up until yesterday. It’s definitely NOT too late for a scholarship. Hopefully something will turn up!

The site seems to have been updated tonight. I have got another $2300 (Departmental Scholarship). Still I am not quite there in terms of the merit award I was hoping for and I have not heard about Honors (most of my friends have !!) so the torturous waiting game continues …

^^^

Congrats!!! I just checked mine and didn’t get anything from CBS (probably because I declared pre-pharmacy as a major, instead of biochemistry…come to think of it, I should probably change that)

Update if you get anything else since we have very similar stats I think.
