Some personal questions about ABET

i decided to attend UCSD the Jacobs school of Engineering under CSE major(Computer Science Engineering), but it's not ABET accreditted.

some people say CS is just started to ABET accreditted...others say computer science does not matter with engineering (but i believe CSE is an engineering department)... and im goign for computer engineering b.s. major.

anyways.. that's enough with some informations i have.

i just want to know if it would be worthy to take computer engineering major at UCSD when it's not ABET accreditted...

just give me some opinions..ideas..suggestions..or informations... :]
thanks

ps: im thinking about switching major... since i have interests in other engineering major and am thinking about going into M.B.A. program after i finish my undergrad and get a decent job :</p>

Really both views are right. Don't worry about accreditation in CS and CSE. Just go to a school that works for you.

Even in other fields, ABET accreditation isn't everything. The only way going to a non-accredited program might set you back is if you were looking to get PE certification, which you don't particularly need for computer science engineering. If you were in a field that would eventually require PE certification, a non-ABET accredited program would only mean a setback in terms of the number of years you'd have to work in your field before you could take the PE exam.

There are many ways to get a PE license. Check with your state PE board for specific requirements.
