Some questions about AP

I am so confused and just wondering what to do if my school doesn’t offer any AP.

Would it effect my college admissions next year??
Or should I just take them online?
If yes where or which site should I take? (Recognized by Collegeboard)

If your school allows you to, you can enroll in online AP courses in virtual schools like the Florida Virtual High School.

Another option is to just self study your AP classes and take the AP exams.

Colleges recognize the fact that schools differ and not all offer APs. APs are simply honor’s level high school courses and colleges know that. They will evaluate you in the context of what your school offers. Some schools have given up AP classes because they are too limiting. Many students take AP exams even when they have not taken AP courses. You can simply buy a review book and take practice tests. Some students take courses on line but many just take the AP exam for whatever class they have taken in school. The only hassle there is that the tests are given early May so some schools haven’t finished the curriculum covered in AP tests-so that means studying ahead.

If you do well on standardized tests, taking the APs gives you some more standardized test scores to send to schools. The most rigorous schools don’t really give much credit for them but you may be able to bypass the entry level courses at less competitive schools if you scored high on an AP and if you know the material. Students I know at some very competitive schools say the AP material is covered in a matter of a few weeks at the start of the semester so using them to bipass entry level classes would probably be a mistake. On the other hand, I know of some less competitive schools and non-flagship state schools where APs can shave off an entire year. Then again, that is telling when a year of high school classes is considered the same as the first year at that college.
