Hi, I’m seriously considering SLO as my school. I’m really confused about all these deposit due dates and such. My parents want me at UCSB, but I got wait listed. I am planning on accepting SLO’s offer and then waiting for SB’s decision. After that, my parents can decide.

My questions are: what is the enrollment deposit for SLO, is it refundable?

There is no enrollment deposit and the room/board deposit is about $2200 (give or take) and refundable, as I understand it.

Call the school too. It was my understanding that if you are getting financial aid then the deposit can be deferred. Better check – call admissions and housing. They may ask you to call student accounts too. All these numbers are on the Cal Poly website. If you can’t find them then just call the general number and ask to be connected. Just ask them the same question you posted and they will walk you through it. Congrats!!

Yes, the deposit is refundable. I got mine refunded no problem.

Make sure to complete your SIR and take your parents to the Open House this weekend. Tell your folks that CPSLO is better than UCSB anyway! My kid turned it down for CPSLO.

Wait, just out of curiosity. When I accepted the SLO admission offer, I didn’t have to pay any fee at all, I just clicked “accept” and that’s all. I am kinda wondering that do I have to fill out any form of paper? SIR for example?? THanks in advance!!

I am in the same exact position as you! If you hold off on the housing deposit until after UCSB’s decision, then you might not get the dorm you want at SLO because it is first come first serve. You can submit the housing deposit now to ensure a dorm of your choice and then if you get into UCSB, you have to write to CPSLO your reason for a refund, and they will give you a full refund.

Can someone explain to me how the housing & dining payments work? My mom and I have been clicking various links on Cal Poly’s website to no avail. My understanding was you choose your dorm and pay immediately after…? But then when I click CashNet there is nothing for me to make a payment for until August…
