Hello all, so I was admitted ED to Cornell and in November I filled the CSS and all of that. Now, I submitted by FAFSA around a week ago with estimates using by 2014 taxes, and also submitted NYS Tap. I believe my mom will be able to get her 2015 taxes soon, so as soon as I get those, do I only need to update my FAFSA and submit again and them I’m done? Is their a specific deadline to when Cornell wants the FAFSA, because on their website it says by February. It also says I need to submit some stuff through IDOC - could anyone care to explain what that is exactly/purpose?
Thank you so much and have a great day guys!
You need to update your FAFSA with your 2015 income tax info. If the tax return was filed electronically, then you can update it via IRS retrieval on the FAFSA form.
Through the Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC), the College Board collects families’ federal tax returns and other documents on behalf of participating colleges and programs. The College Board notifies students selected by participating institutions when to submit the required documents.
IDOC is something you need to follow the instructions on closely. It usually asks for copies of your tax returns and certain schedules, w2 forms, 1099 forms etc. It’s much more in depth. You will get an IDCO cover sheet with all your particular requirements. You can upload them or send them via mail, but uploading is easier IMO.
