I'm a rising senior in high school. NYU is my top choice, and I will be applying early decision. That said, I have a few simple questions about Gallatin...

If you were/are in Gallatin, what was/is your overall experience? Did you like it? Do you feel all that money spent on tuition was worth it? Hard/easy classes?

Really simple question, but on your degree when you graduate, what will it say? I know BA, but is it specified? I know you pick your own concentration. But back to the degree, will it specify - e.g. of Business, Arts, Finance, etc.

Do you think Gallatin is more for someone who knows exactly what they want to study, or someone who likes a lot of things and wants to pursue them all?

(For me for example, I have a wide variety of interests. I like economics, business, social studies, but I also want to learn more about the arts. I also like education. I'm also interested in fashion, international, working with special education children, etc. I can't list everything. But my main focus would be something along the lines of International Business. What I like about Gallatin is that you can study what you want.)

And lastly, if you could tell me, what does Gallatin look for in prospective students?

cmnol-- Gallatin is what I believe to be the “hidden treasure” of NYU. It offers a very well-rounded learning experience in that it allows one to create an “individualized” curriculum. I believe Gallatin to be a school for the “jack (or jill lol) of all trades”–one who knows where they want to end up and have a multitude of interests, but just needs to consolidate it all into one focus.

Your degree upon graduation will show that you have a BA in Individualized Studies with a concentration in (insert here).

Lastly, like every other school at NYU, I believe Gallatin admissions counselors look for gpa/sat/essay while also taking into consideration extra-currics and talents. And again, Gallatin is most likely looking for one who is actually interested in an “individualized” approach to learning and who is self-motivated with a multitude of interests!
