Some questions about housing!

Unlike most people here it seems, I didn't apply for IU until maybe March. Got my acceptance a couple weeks later, and since it is my second-choice school (got waitlisted at my first choice, so...), I've been trying to figure out the housing. I sent in the application yesterday, but then I realized the "priority housing deadline" was like a week ago.

Does anyone know:
1. How long it takes (after you send in your app) for them to tell you what hall/neighborhood/etc. you'll be in? I've seen that most don't get actual room assignments until May or later, but I've also seen people already knowing if they got into the place they want.
2. If the residence scholars would be full by now already? (first preference)
3. If the global village would be full by now already? (second preference)
4. Do I have to send in the yes-I'm-enrolling fee ($100) for them to consider my housing application. I haven't yet since money is a bit tight, but if I have to in order for them to give me the housing decision, I'll ask my mom @____@

I think you do need to send in your $100 enrollment to sign up for housing–but not sure. Look on the IU site under RPS–there should be info and/or a phone number. Call em now while they are open, someone should be able to answer your question.

My D signed up for housing VERY late, a couple years ago (it was about this time). She didn’t get her first choices but she ended up liking where she was. I think she found out in June or July, but don’t remember. It wasn’t right away.

If a freshman indicates they know where they will be living, they are likely mistaken. IU has not assigned housing for freshman yet. Typically they will send a notification as to the dorm in June. In late July or early August you will find out your roommate.
