Hi, I'm currently an undergraduate at Berkeley's CS program, and I'm interested in getting an M.S. after I graduate. I've been having trouble finding the average GPA of students admitted into M.S. programs at Stanford, CMU, MIT, etcetc. I know obviously a lot of other factors come into play for graduate programs, but can someone give me some pointers of what my GPA should be around to have a good chance? Also, do these kind of programs favor internships or research in admissions?

Internships and research experience would likely be helpful; some programs may even require some actual industry experience. But previous research isn’t nearly as critical as it is for PhDs. These terminal master’s degrees are often just cash cow programs for the university.

thanks! yeah i know that committing myself to these kind of terminal masters degrees may not be the best choice depending on what i want to pursue. however, i would like to leave this option open in terms of my future career path (at the very least something i want to consider). That being said, does anyone know the ballpark gpa for these kind of terminal masters degrees at top schools (ie. Cal, stanford, caltech, mit)?
