Some questions about PSU

Penn state will most likely be where I end up going and I have the following questions. Thank you in advance for looking at this post.

Are there a lot of academically motivated students? (Students who study a lot and worry about their GPA)

How hard is it to get a 3.5 - 4.0 gpa?

Is the environment focused on academics and not just on partying?

How is Smeal, and are the courses challenging?

Thanks again

I'll be there. and I consider myself a Pretty Good Student. I have a 1270 SAT and a 3.5 But I'm not over obsessive about my grades.

No Clue??

3 and 1. I think from what I've heard it's like the best of both worlds, you Could go there and just party. But then again with a Freshman class of 5,000 and millions of different student orginaztions your bound to find stuff to do other then party, and there will be other people like you and me that are not really into getting drunk ever night. (in fact I've never gotten drunk). The way I see it is, there's going to be students smarter then you and at the same time your going to be smarter then some students SO everyone's not a jock who likes to party and get drunk.

Plus they hire only the BEST Professors, with all of that funding the teachers probably love that they get all of that money to do research and stuff.

It's basically anything you could want in a college. your like guaranteed that you will not HATE it as is not the case at some small schools.. Some people say stuff like "OH it's so big, I'd be lost in that environment" Well yeah that's what college is all about. Why would you want to go to some small school that seems just like High School. I actually Toured the University of Scranton and like the classroom looked just like my high school room. Why not go to a place with New everything. Top of the line Stuff and facilities. Anything you could want in a college PSU will probably have it. Can you tell I'm really excited to be going there???

Don't know about Smeal. I'm doing Undecided as my major. I may end up there though.. who knows.

bump bump bump

hmm...i'm interested to know this as well.
i haven't visited the campus yet, but i think i will since im starting to get excited about penn state.
1. how about jobs after graduation? how does the outside world view penn state?
2. is there a lot of pressure to slack off, drink, whatever?
3. are there inspiring professors?
4. can you create your own opportunities if the college doesn't offer it?
5. how is the study abroad program?

thanks!
