Some questions about the 'Honors' tab in Education

Hi. I was wondering which one of these are appropriate or inappropriate to list in the 'Honors' tab.

National Merit Semifinalist – on the Common App support page, it says that this is a regional/state recognition. However, I'm a US citizen living outside the US, so I'm not sure if this is still regional/state...

National Honor Society – I was going to put this in my extracurriculars. Should I only put it in 'honors'? In 'activities'? Or both?

AP Scholar with Honor Award

Scholarship I got from my high school – I'm not sure if this counts as an honor (I'm not even sure what honor really means here...) In addition, if the scholarship counts as an honor, will it reduce my chance of getting financial aid?

Two awards I got for my volunteer service. One was awarded in a volunteer activities competition, and one was awarded by a volunteer service organization.

Thank you!

Yes, it is. good job on that btw.

I put NHS under extracurriculars because our chapter does service projects and stuff. its not just a group of smart kids. but idk ur situation.

yes put that. i have a question about that actually. is that considered regional or national?

personally i wouldn’t put it, it’s kind of odd. still, it shouldn’t reduce ur chances of aid if you still have financial need.

you can put those, sure. or you can put volunteering in activities and just state the honors you received. depends on how much space you have.

honors is just any recognition you get for anything, academic or not. you can decide what is an important honor to you. “best big brother ever award” probably doesn’t count though haha. :D
