do you think I have a chance at ucsd (not the medical scholars program, just in general) with these:
(i'm a junior)
GPA:
weighted: 4.45
non weighted: 3.92
SAT:
2370
i havent taken the sat IIs yet
learning music for 12 years, volunteering for 2 years at a hospital, sci oly
and along the same lines, do the uc's use the cumulative high school gpa or the uc gpa for?
now, taking those same stats, do you think I have a shot at the medical scholars program?
a few questions:
1. when they say "4.0 gpa or higher" do they mean your weighted or non weighted? am i still eligible even though i have a 3.92 nw?
2. for purpose of the medical scholars program, do they use your cumulative high school gpa or the special uc gpa? (10-11 classes, a-g courses)
3. sooo do i have a chance?
muchos gracias :D

I think it’s weighted for question 1. Yes for 3. No idea for 2.

UCs look at unweighted GPA

“Muchas gracias”. Work on that Spanish for that med scholars program.
Good chance if you are in-state.

I think UCs look at your unweighted GPA and the UC GPA.
You have a great SAT score and GPA. You have a good shot-- good luck!

Read the post again for question 1. There are no Gpas that are higher than 4.00 therefore it must be weighted so that was my comment.

sorry aunt bea I take French so merci beaucoup :)

@Te4mVygrin so does that mean I won’t even get an invite to the med scholars program? since my nonweighted GPA is 3.92? but my weighted is still 4.45! aghh help!!

Good numbers, not so good EC’s. When it comes to the medical scholars program, they want to see a TRUE passion for medicine conveyed through your activities and experiences within your EC’s and your essays. Only volunteering at a hospital for 2 years and SciOly doesn’t really seem like enough.

As I said in your other thread, they mean weighted/UC (same thing for my school) GPA. You can’t have above a 4.0 UW on a 4.0 scale.
