So i got e-mails from Drexel (and a few other schools) about being a VIP member. First of all, i am wondering if this is legitimate. Secondly, if you get in, do you HAVE to go (like an early action thing)? And thirdly, how long do you have to reply? Can you wait until you recieve acceptance/denial letters from all the rest of the places you apply to or does it have to be within the next few weeks since Drexel responds earlier than most schools? Thanks for your time! :)

Drexel sends the VIP application to a lot of people. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll get in, but there’s no harm in applying since it’s free.

No, the admissions decision is not binding. You don’t have to go if you’re accepted.

Yes, of course you can wait. It’s nice to have an early acceptance though to relieve some of the stress of applying.

thanks alot! (=

I got drexel’s VIP application few days ago, too. I just wondered if I send in the application, will it affect my application if I’m applying to other universities?

Hey,
I got drexel’s VIP application few days ago, too. I just wondered if I send in the application, will it affect my application if I’m applying to other universities?

Filled this out for my S. It will only effect your other applications if you are applying to a binding early decision program at Drexel, such as Westphal.

So if I want to apply to other unis I shouldn’t reply the application before the deadline of early decision correct?? How about the penalty?
Tks

We sent our application in regular decision. We simply did NOT check the box that says “I am applying to a binding early decision program in the College of Media Arts”. So his application will be considered along with all of the regular decision applications. Our fall is so busy that I wanted all college applications in early, however, we did not apply early decision to any of the colleges because they are all binding for his major.
I don’t know what the penalties are if you apply to a binding early decision program, get accepted and then don’t go there. I know you can get out of it if they do not give you enough financial aid.
