I am currently a CALS student majoring in environmental engineering, and I am planning to transfer to AEM. I have several questions that need clarification.
1. the website says that I need a GPA above 2.75(more and 3.0 is more realistic). But this seems like the lowest requirement possible. Does any one know what range of GPA do tranferers get on avg?
2. do they treat GPA's of students from different majors differently? What I am trying to say is that a 3.0 in ECE major and a 3.0 in Econ major are definitely not the same.
3. is there anyone you know of who tried to transfer but failed? If there is, what is the main reason that he or she failed so that I can try not to make the same mistake.
I very much appreciate your response.

They treat them the same. Rather than worrying just about GPA, you also need to be taking AEM requirement courses while you are still an ECE major for them to let you in. You will also need a reason for why you want to transfer to AEM.
Yeah, AEM is a really popular major to transfer into (Due to its notorious ease and its reputation for still being a great program) - numerous people tried to transfer and can’t get in. It is generally because they haven’t taken the required classes for AEM. 2nd is gpa.

But if you get a good gpa and have taken the courses they say are required, you’ve got a good shot right?

maybe - depends on how many spots they have. AEM is pretty small and competitive. I don’t know enough successful transfers to AEM to tell you that.
