- So for some schools there's 2 semester options, fall and spring. Why might someone apply to spring instead of fall?
- How hard is it to transfer? I know this has been asked a lot but I want the most up to date info. Which school accepts the most transfers? What are the acceptance rates?
- How much are high school GPA and SAT scores factored in?
- Can you try again for spring transfer if you're rejected from fall?
Thank you for reading and if you answer.
Also, how much are EC’s factored in?
My D2 applied for Spring admission because she wanted to give her existing school one last chance in the Fall before transferring, to see if things got better there in sophomore year. It’s really better to apply for the Fall term, because a lot fewer schools accept Spring semester transfers, so you’ll have fewer places to apply to.
The entering transfer class for the Spring term was much smaller than for the Fall. From the stats I saw when D2 went to her orientation, the acceptance rates for the Spring term were basically the same as for Fall admissions in her year.
IMO it’s reasonable to assume that anything you submit they will read and evaluate, with more weight given to more recent accomplishments. But nobody but an admissions officer can quote you a “formula”. How would we know?
The most recent transfer admit stats I’ve seen broken out by college are a bit old now, but here they are FWIW:

Note however that these numbers include a significant number of people who were previously offered “Guaranted Transfers” after applying as freshmen.
Note that if you apply to the school “that accepts the most transfers”, and that school accepts you, and you matriculate there, that is the school you will be enrolled in. You will be subject to that school’s course, distribution and major requirements. So I hope you like something about it beyond its transfer acceptance rates.
